First workshop held with PCS Yr 2 students at DMU
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009Today we held our first workshop with fourteen Year 2 PCS students hoping to go on placement in the next academic year. Peter Taylor covered the use of blogs and wikis that we intend the students and tutors to use with some hands-on input from the students into blogs and wikis freshly-created in Blackboard by Peter. Malcolm Andrew demonstrated the use of Audacity to create and edit audio files on a PC and the use of a webcam and the flip video camera to shoot video material. He then edited a video he had created using Windows Movie Maker. The students seemed very interested in the workshop; they thought the video editing was “really cool”. Most of them seemed to want to use the technology. We now need to do simlar training for the academic placement tutors (who may or may not think it’s really cool!).
