Kingston University will have a major presence at Ecobuild, the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment.
The main focus of Kingston’s display will be the industry launch of Rematerialise, our unique materials library. The collection has over 1,200 samples that use less virgin resources and are easily renewed. Rematerialise is a popular resource that has become a catalyst for collaborations between Kingston University and industry, including high-profile brands such as Marks & Spencer.
Other features include an exciting graphic exhibition that will tell the story of how design-led research by academics and students has made a difference to sustainability and society through projects about behaviour, architectural technology, surveying, dementia, renewable materials and product design.
Join Dr Paul Micklethwaite from the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture who will be launching his new book Design for Sustainable Change (co-authored with colleague Anne Chick) and hosting a series of intimate and engaging round table events with special guests that can be followed via Twitter and his blog.
Kingston’s presence at Ecobuild will establish the University as a centre of sustainability expertise across various disciplines.

 SaloneSatellite
The work of eight recent graduates of the Product and Furniture course was a popular exhibit at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the world’s biggest design trade fair. The Kingston stand was located in a special area featuring 700 up and coming young designers and 23 design schools with Kingston being one of only two British Universities invited to take part.
The work was extremely well received; enthusiastic comments of ‘bellisimo’ and ‘bella’ were constanly heard and the stand was very busy. Over 4000 pieces of literature and 40 press packs were distributed and many companies and other universities from as far away as Mexico and China expressed an interest in collaborating with Kingston.
The exhibition was organised and run by Peter Christian and graduates Helena Karelson and Yu-Hun Kim whose work was on show. They were left stranded in Milan by the ash cloud and had to enlist the help of the British Consulate to get themselves home.
